Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 29 April 2026
We want everyone to be able to use this website and attend the summit. This statement explains how accessible we aim to be, what works well today, what doesn't yet, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
1. Standards we aim for
This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, conformance level AA). We test against this standard before each release and re-test after significant content changes.
2. What works well
- The site can be navigated end-to-end with a keyboard alone (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space).
- Visible focus rings on every interactive element.
- Headings and landmarks (header, main, footer) are used consistently so screen readers can skim the page.
- Form fields have labels and clear error messages.
- Colour is not the only way information is conveyed.
- The site reflows cleanly down to 320px wide and up to 200% zoom.
3. What we know we need to improve
We're honest — no site is perfect. We're actively working on:
- Auditing colour contrast on a small number of cyan-on-white text combinations.
- Adding alternative text to all decorative imagery as it's added.
- Captions and transcripts for any post-event video recordings (these will be available within 30 days of the event).
4. Accessibility at the venue (ExCeL London)
- Step-free access throughout the venue.
- Accessible toilets on every floor.
- Hearing loops at the main stage and registration desk.
- Reserved seating available on request — email hello@uksmesummit.co.uk at least 14 days before the event.
- British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation on the main stage available on request — please ask at least 30 days before the event.
- Quiet room available throughout both days.
- Service animals welcome.
5. How to tell us about a problem
If something on this site or at the event is hard to use or inaccessible, please tell us. The faster we hear, the faster we fix:
- Email: hello@uksmesummit.co.uk — please put "Accessibility" in the subject
- Phone: +44 20 0000 0000
We aim to respond within 5 working days.
6. Enforcement
If you contact us about an accessibility issue and aren't happy with our response, you can complain to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).
7. Technical information
This statement was prepared on 29 April 2026. It will be reviewed and updated when significant changes are made to the site or before each annual summit.
